Yellow Avalanche- Lily (Erythronium grandiflorum)

Glacier Lillies also known as the Avalanche Lillies or Erythronium grandiflorum are often found at the edges of snow banks or emerge through the thinning snowpack in the late spring and early summer. Erythronium grandiflorum extend their growing season in high altitude meadows as the plants generate heat as they sprout from their corms (a small bulb-like stem) which melts the snow surrounding them.
